Packers could trade for Mac Jones in 2024

The Packers wouldn't necessarily need to rely on the draft to find a new starting quarterback. Another option would be to trade for a veteran, and Mac Jones could be a potential target.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, the New England Patriots have "shopped Jones to multiple teams" this spring. That's not great for Jones' long-term outlook in New England, even if he remains there in 2023.

It's also notable that the Patriots hosted first-round prospect Will Levis for a pre-draft visit this week.

The visit might mean nothing, but the Patriots hold the 14th selection in the draft. Could they select Jones' long-term replacement?

Trading for Jones would come with some risk for the Packers, but he has shown potential in his NFL career to date. He was selected 15th overall only two years ago and went to the Pro Bowl as a rookie.

Jones has made 31 starts for the Patriots over two seasons, throwing for 6,798 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions, with a passer rating of 89.0. He has led New England to a 16-15 record in the games he's started.

There's work to be done, but Jones is a former Pro Bowler and has the potential to become a quality starting quarterback.
