4 winners (and 1 loser) for Packers in Week 1 win over Bears
Winner: Jordan Love
Jordan Love played well in the preseason and regularly made plays throughout training camp. The Packers had good reason to have confidence in their new starting quarterback, but the pressure was on in Week 1.
As we've seen all summer, Love looked at ease. The moment wasn't too big for him. He remained calm under pressure and never panicked. Even when he fumbled the ball and easily could've made a rushed decision, he picked it up, set himself, and connected with Luke Musgrave for 37 yards.
Love threw three touchdown passes with no turnovers. And that was without star receiver Christian Watson. Four of the pass-catchers Love threw to were rookies -- Luke Musgrave and Jayden Reed combined for 98 yards from five catches.
It's exactly what the Packers hoped to see from their former first-round pick.
Was it perfect? No. Of course not. There are areas to improve. But this was Love's second career start and his first in nearly two years. This is the beginning of a new journey for this young team, and Love made an impressive start. The rest of the league is beginning to see how good Love is. Packers fans have seen it all summer.
