The Green Bay Packers might not be expected to compete for a Super Bowl this season, but they have several former All-Pros and Pro Bowlers on the roster.

Jaire Alexander, Aaron Jones, and Rashan Gary are among the Packers' star players. They could all make the Pro Bowl this season.

However, there are also players on the roster whose 2023 season could go in a couple of directions. If all goes well, they could be Pro Bowlers. But that is far from guaranteed, and a disappointing season is also possible.

Here's a look at five boom-or-bust players for the Packers in 2023.

5. Brenton Cox Jr., EDGE

On talent alone, undrafted free agent Brenton Cox Jr. would have a great shot at making the roster and contributing on defense.

However, he was dismissed from both Georgia and Florida, which is a major concern.

"He has the potential to slot in as a rotational 3-4 outside 'backer, but he needs to convince teams the issues that led to his dismissals from Georgia and Florida won't resurface in the NFL," wrote Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.

Cox is a talented pass rusher. He played 13 games for Florida in 2021, making eight sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss.

He is good enough to make the Packers' roster and immediately help the pass rush. The Packers didn't take much risk by signing Cox as an undrafted free agent. The upside is Cox contributing on defense this year. But it's no guarantee he even makes the roster.
