Packers 53-man roster predictions with a mock draft twist
Packers 2023 7-round mock draft in full
Now that you've seen the projected 53-man roster, here's the seven-round mock draft that got us here. The mock was built using Pro Football Focus' mock draft simulator.
Round 1 (15): Darnell Wright, T, Tennessee
Round 2 (42) (from New York Jets): Keeanu Benton, DL, Wisconsin
Round 2 (43) (from New York Jets): Sam LaPorta, TE, Iowa
Round 2 (45): Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
Round 3 (78): Jonathan Mingo, WR, Mississippi
Round 4 (116): Dontayvion Wicks, WR, Virginia
Round 5 (149): Anthony Johnson Jr., S, Iowa State
Round 5 (170): Viliami Fehoko, EDGE, San Jose State
Round 7 (232): Jake Moody, K, Michigan
Round 7 (235): Brodric Martin, DL, Western Kentucky
Round 7 (242): Clayton Tune, QB, Houston
Round 7 (256): Elijah Higgins, WR, Stanford
Two players from this mock draft didn't make the 53-man roster: Clayton Tune and Elijah Higgins. Finding room for a third quarterback was a challenge, while I was also happy with the wide receiver depth.
Both players would compete for a spot at training camp and could land on the practice squad if they initially failed to make the 53.
Of course, no draft class is perfect, and the Packers would still have areas of need. But with a couple of affordable free-agent additions, Green Bay can enter the summer in a strong position with a talented roster.
