Packers 53-man roster predictions after second week of training camp
- Who could make 53-man roster after Family Night?
- Tyler Goodson to miss out?
- Six defensive linemen, five safeties
Cornerback (5)
Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas, Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine, Corey Ballentine
PUP: Eric Stokes
Cornerback is arguably the Packers' deepest position group. Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas, and Keisean Nixon make up an excellent starting trio, while rookie Carrington Valentine is one of the Packers' standout performers at training camp.
And we haven't even mentioned former first-round pick Eric Stokes yet.
Safety (5)
Darnell Savage, Jonathan Owens, Rudy Ford, Dallin Leavitt, Tarvarius Moore
Jonathan Owens' impressive training camp has led to more first-team reps. He could have moved ahead of Rudy Ford on the depth chart. Ford still provides good depth, as does free-agent addition Tarvarius Moore. Dallin Leavitt is one of Green Bay's best special teams players.
It was a tough decision not to include rookie Anthony Johnson Jr. The Packers may find a way to keep six safeties.
Special teams (3)
Anders Carlson, Pat O'Donnell, Matt Orzech
Anders Carlson significantly helped his chances of making the roster with an outstanding performance at Family Night.
Pat O'Donnell is the choice at punter, but he faces tough competition from Daniel Whelan. O'Donnell has more experience, but Whelan has punted well this summer and still has a chance to win the job -- something to watch throughout the preseason.
