7 bold predictions for Packers entering the 2023 season
4. Rasul Douglas moves to safety
The Packers are deep at cornerback, especially once former first-round pick Eric Stokes returns from injury. The same can't be said at safety, where Rudy Ford is expected to start alongside Darnell Savage. Green Bay didn't do enough to replace the departing Adrian Amos.
Douglas has the skill set to move to safety, and the Packers have enough cornerback depth to cover for him, especially with the emergence of rookie Carrington Valentine.
Head coach Matt LaFleur discussed the possibility of moving Douglas to safety this summer. He even took some reps there. While the position switch never happened, it still could at a later date, especially if the Packers' starting safeties struggle.
3. Packers win NFC North
Everyone was quick to write off the Packers after they traded away Aaron Rodgers. The Detroit Lions were the offseason darlings, while the Chicago Bears spent a lot of money to upgrade the league's worst roster.
But they disregard the talent Green Bay has. The defense features eight first-round picks and multiple All-Pros, including superstar cornerback Jaire Alexander.
The offense includes All-Pros and Pro Bowlers like David Bakhtiari, Aaron Jones, and Elgton Jenkins, as well as young stars like Christian Watson.
And then there is Jordan Love, ready to lead the way. Not only has he impressed this summer, but Love also plays in a QB-friendly offense. A wide-open NFC North is there for the taking, and the Packers are going to surprise a few people this season.
