There's a feel-good factor at Green Bay Packers training camp.

Jordan Love has signed a massive extension that makes him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. The new-look defense under Jeff Hafley is off to a red-hot start, and optimism is high—as it should be.

The Packers struck gold in last year's draft class, with Luke Musgrave, Jayden Reed, Tucker Kraft, Dontayvion Wicks, Karl Brooks, and Carrington Valentine becoming instant contributors. The early signs are encouraging for this year's rookie class, too.

Three first-year players, in particular, are turning heads at training camp.

Javon Bullard and Evan Williams

Packers fans should be excited about the upgrades the team has made at safety. Along with big free-agent addition Xavier McKinney, rookies Javon Bullard and Evan Williams have made an outstanding start to training camp.

"I'm really excited about both of those guys," said head coach Matt LaFleur. "Certainly, they have a skill set, but the mental ability of both these guys to be able to retain what they learned throughout the course of OTAs, come back and just continue to build on that day by day, I think has been super impressive."

Bullard is going to be a star. The second-round pick looks like a veteran on the practice field, giving Packers fans a glimpse of the game-changer he can become.

Bullard has played alongside McKinney at safety and also lined up in the slot. He can do both at a high level, allowing Jeff Hafley to move him around and disguise coverages.

He has been impressive on the field, but his comments after practice also highlight why he has star potential. Per The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, Bullard was asked how comfortable he is in the defense.

Bullard said: "I ain't gonna lie, I don't even like the word 'comfortable.' No disrespect, but I don't really like that word, especially in this profession because the second you get comfortable, somebody's got your job. And I don't even have a job yet."

Williams, a fourth-round pick in April, has already made three interceptions in the opening week of training camp. That's how you make an impact.

Both rookies are in contention for a starting job alongside McKinney, although they can also play as the slot corner. There's reason to be excited about the Packers' new-look safety room, and we haven't even seen fifth-rounder Kitan Oladapo yet, who should soon return from a toe injury.

Kalen King

Another rookie defensive back has made some big plays. Cornerback Kalen King surprisingly fell to the Packers in the seventh round after a disappointing final season at Penn State. Only months before, many believed he could go in the first round.

All it did was motivate King to prove himself at the NFL level. So far, so good. He made an impressive start during rookie minicamp and is making the most of his opportunities at training camp.

King's best position is likely slot corner, and it was in that position where he made his first interception of the summer, a pick-six of Jordan Love while covering Christian Watson. Talk about making the most of your opportunities. This wasn't an interception against the third-string quarterback and a backup receiver. King jumped a route intended for Watson in the middle of the field and took it to the house.

King's stock is rising, and he has a shot at making the 53-man roster.
