Stocking up on draft picks

The more swings, the better your chances of hitting a home run. It's a smart strategy to load up on draft picks, increasing the odds of landing a difference-maker. Green Bay made 13 selections in this year's draft as a result of trades.

Gutekunst netted a second-rounder while moving up two positions in the first round in the Aaron Rodgers trade. He then moved down twice in the second round, trades that resulted in the selections of Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Karl Brooks. That works.

But it doesn't stop there. The Packers are loaded with more picks entering the 2024 NFL Draft, including five in the opening three rounds.

Green Bay is in a rare position. It is two wins away from the Super Bowl but also has the draft capital to significantly upgrade the roster in April. The Packers will pick near the bottom of the first round, but they own two second-rounders and two thirds. One is locked in as the No. 41 pick, which comes from the New York Jets in the Rodgers deal.

And considering Gutekunst's recent track record in the draft, there's a good chance the Packers will add multiple game-changers to the roster this upcoming offseason.
