The preseason is all about preparation and evaluation.

With the starters not expected to play, the Green Bay Packers want to get another good look at their biggest positional battles when they visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday night. Denver's starters will play a part, giving the Packers' backups a great challenge.

Green Bay's joint practice against Denver didn't go to plan, and Matt LaFleur will hope for better results on Sunday.

The last thing anybody needs is the weather to have a significant impact.

It's football, and challenging weather conditions play a part, but the Packers want the best opportunity to evaluate their roster.

Fortunately, it seems the Packers and Broncos should narrowly avoid the worst of the weather on Sunday.

Thunderstorms expected to clear before Packers vs. Broncos in preseason Week 2

There could be rain and thunderstorms in Denver on Sunday, but the latest forecast suggests it will clear in time for kickoff. According to AccuWeather, the temperatures will reach 92 degrees, with the chance of thundershowers in the afternoon.

At kickoff time, it is expected to be around 84 degrees with a 47 percent chance of rain. While the forecast does say there could be thunderstorms around that time, they should clear. The chance of rain decreases dramatically throughout the game.

Playing in rainy conditions is one thing—that's football. But both teams will want to avoid thunderstorms and the delays they can bring.

Two of the Packers' most important competitions are the backup quarterback and kicker positions. Both can be affected by poor weather. LaFleur will want a good chance to evaluate the players without having to factor in stormy conditions that are tough to play in.

Rain (and even thunder) could come into play on Sunday, but the good news is that the worst of the weather should be gone by kickoff time.

It's something to monitor over the weekend as the game gets closer.
