Packers future is bright despite heartbreaking playoff loss to 49ers

Going into Saturday night's playoff matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, the general consensus was that the Green Bay Packers were little more than sacrificial lambs to the slaughter.

Unfortunately for those with that mindset, Green Bay was unwilling to roll over so easily and proceeded to give San Francisco a fight they might not have been expecting. Even though the Packers fell short by the game's conclusion, the future is still bright in Green Bay.

There was a point in late October when the Packers had a disappointing 2-5 record, and an angry mob was ready to swarm. The good news for Green Bay and bad news for said mob is that the team would proceed to go on a 7-3 run over the season's final 10 games, which allowed them to get into the postseason.

Packers future is bright with Jordan Love

Powering that run was the play of a then-unproven Jordan Love. Love took control of the offense and was able to prove with tangible results on the field as to why the organization felt more than comfortable handing the keys to the offense to him after the departure of Aaron Rodgers.

It is going to be an incredibly easy decision for Green Bay's front office as to what they are going to do regarding a contract extension.

In addition to Love, the Packers have a young, exciting foundation to work with on the offensive side of the ball. Being able to build around Love, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Tucker Kraft, and Luke Musgrave should provide the front office with more than enough to work with moving forward.

Very few teams are able to have this much young talent on their roster at the same time, and the Packers need to capitalize on it while they can. If they can do so, a playoff appearance is just the beginning, as it will not be too long before they reclaim their rightful place atop the NFC North.
