The Green Bay Packers will likely add quarterback competition at some point on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft.

General manager Brian Gutekunst had high praise for backup quarterback Sean Clifford but wants to continue adding to the position via the draft. It makes sense to keep restocking the quarterback depth and creating competition.

"Getting back to drafting multiple quarterbacks is something that I've wanted to do," Gutekunst said. "There's some guys with interesting skill sets that are going to get taken later that might have a pretty good chance to make it."

The Packers have their starter in Jordan Love, who is expected to land a massive new contract this offseason. While Clifford played well in the preseason, it's not a bad idea to add another quarterback in the upcoming draft.

And the Packers may have identified a quarterback with the perfect name to play in Green Bay.

Packers host QB Rocky Lombardi at local Pro Day before 2024 NFL Draft

Some players are born to play for the Green Bay Packers. We can put Northern Illinois quarterback Rocky Lombardi into that category. The Packers have shown interest, inviting Lombardi to participate in their local Pro Day.

There is no relation to Packers legendary coach Vince Lombardi. Despite that, it wouldn't be right for Rocky Lombardi to play for any other NFL team.

The Packers prioritize athleticism, and Lombardi checks that box, too. He has a Relative Athletic Score of 9.21 out of 10.

He is an older draft prospect, turning 26 this summer, and has spent the past three seasons playing for Northern Illinois and the previous three at Michigan State. Last season, he threw for 2,274 yards, 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

Lombardi isn't ready to start in the NFL, but he could compete for a spot on the practice squad as the third-string quarterback. The Packers want to add to their QB room and bring in young players to develop. It would be fitting to add a Lombardi to Green Bay in the draft.
