3 Packers who will definitely be inactive in Week 1 vs. Bears
The Green Bay Packers had tough decisions to make to trim their roster to 53 players. Now, they must determine who dresses for the season opener against the Chicago Bears.
Green Bay will release its list of inactives 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday afternoon. Some weeks, several players miss out due to injury. But it's Week 1, and only two players carry an injury designation on the Packers' injury report.
The Packers need to ensure they have enough depth in case of injury while also factoring in who contributes on special teams. These three players could miss out on Sunday against the Bears.
3. Caleb Jones
David Bakhtiari is expected to start in Week 1 despite not practicing all week. That makes it unlikely Caleb Jones will be active for the game.
Zach Tom will start at right tackle, with Rasheed Walker and Yosh Nijman providing cover. Nijman has plenty of starting experience and can line up at both tackle positions.
Even in an absolute worst-case scenario where the Packers suffer multiple injuries at tackle, they have other players on the roster who can play there if necessary, including Pro Bowler Elgton Jenkins.
The Packers signed Jones as an undrafted free agent last year. He impressed in the preseason and deservedly made the 53-man roster, but it's unlikely he will play in Week 1.
