The Green Bay Packers began their offseason program on Monday with a new QB1.

Jordan Love is set to become the Packers' new starting quarterback this season once Aaron Rodgers is traded. As one legendary career comes to an end in Green Bay, the Packers hope another begins.

With Love on the roster, the Packers haven't had to worry about finding a backup quarterback for Rodgers in recent years. But that changes now.

So, who is Jordan Love's backup?

Packers: Who is Jordan Love's backup quarterback in 2023?

Not including Aaron Rodgers, the Packers only have two quarterbacks under contract: Jordan Love and Danny Etling.

I know what you might be thinking -- who? And that's understandable.

Etling was a seventh-round draft choice by the New England Patriots in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has spent time with several NFL teams, including the Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, and the Packers.

Here's a fun fact about Etling: He has more Super Bowl rings than pass attempts. Etling hasn't thrown a single pass in the NFL but was part of the Patriots' championship-winning roster in 2018.

Will the Packers add another quarterback this offseason?

Almost certainly yes. It's hard to imagine the Packers will go into the 2023 regular season with Etling as their top backup. He has never thrown a pass in the NFL but would only ever be one play away from entering a game.

As they did in 2008 when Aaron Rodgers prepared to take over as QB1, the Packers may draft a quarterback. That year, they picked two. Green Bay may take a similar approach in this year's draft.

The Packers could also opt to sign a veteran quarterback to back up Love. Free agent options include Teddy Bridgewater and Matt Ryan.

At some point this offseason, expect the Packers to add a quarterback.
