In an eventful and sadly cut-short preseason game against the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love states that the Patriots played it a tad stealthier, not necessarily showing all of their cards.

(The game was called off, or rather the rest of the game, because of the injury suffered by Isaiah Bolden.)

This forced the new Packers QB to make a few throws that had little chance of making it through, but in the end he was happy or rather content with his performance and the turnout despite the registered preseason loss.

"I think it was great…Any time you get a (joint) practice, I think it's good and I think these guys do a really good job of mixing their coverages…so I think it's very valuable reps," stated Love.

He went on to say: "Obviously in practice versus a preseason game you get to see a little bit more of their defense, more of their scheme come out, so I think it's all valuable stuff…I think just where the defender, the way he played it, Romeo was trying to get back outside of him, and he kind of just walled him to the sideline."

The big takeaway from the game and regarding Love's performance as a whole were three key throws:

The contested catch from Doubs at the second-and-9 from the Green Bay 8-yard line; the action that led to the TD by Jayden Reed—what Love called the "through route" while speaking to the press, and finally the second contested catch by Doubs.

Regardless of how it turned out, Love's accuracy showed here big time.

"I think that ball was where I wanted it. When it came out of my hand, I thought it might be a little underthrown, but it was able to get to where I wanted it," Love stated of that first contested catch from Doubs.

The preseason game showed a wee bit of holes in the Packers offense and evidently defense, but fans and the team can take away these three key spots as positives overall, and hopefully what we can expect more of this season.

It was a 19-yard pass from Love to Reed for the TD and it all started with a kick from the struggling Packers rookie placekicker, Anders Carlson.

On the TD pass, Love had this to say: "It was a great route by 'J Reed,' what we call a through route…It was man coverage, it was sticky coverage, but he won inside. It was pretty much just running away from the DB. There was a backer that kind of out in front of him, so I just held on to it for a little bit, let him just continue to run through that second window and he made a great play at the end, just being able to bounce off that DB and get in the end zone, so it was a great rip by him."

In the end the preseason is a way for the teams to feel each other out, scope out the competition, but at the same time it's a great time to test the limits and for the team to get to know each other out there on the field, which is a whole different dynamic than in practice.

Hopefully the Packers are taking it all in and hopefully Love is paying attention to what will work and what won't come the official start of this year's NFL season.
