The Green Bay Packers are practicing with the New England Patriots, and it is rookie tight end Luke Musgrave garnering much of the attention.

It was noted that Musgrave was having his way against one of the better tight end stoppers in the league, Kyle Dugger. Standing at 6 feet-2 and around 220 pounds, Dugger has a large enough body to stay physical with some of the larger tight ends and keep up with the faster ones.

Dugger is the exact type of player that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick covets. Getting the best of Belichick's most prized possessions on the defensive side of the ball is very impressive.

Packers safety Dallin Leavitt was very complimentary of the highest-drafted tight end since Bubba Franks.

Packers rookie Luke Musgrave drawing comparisons to Travis Kelce, Darren Waller

Leavitt would mention both Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in addition to former Las Vegas Raiders and current New York Giants tight end Darren Waller as comparisons.

"I think Darren Waller is another level of it because Darren is almost like an X receiver," said Leavitt, according to ESPN.

If Musgrave can play that type of role for the Packers, it will create so many mismatches that Jordan Love should be able to take advantage of. That is the beauty of the tight end position. If a team has one that is good enough, they can become matchup nightmares for opposing defenses.

But as far as body type goes, Leavitt settles on Kelce.

"But honestly, I would say he’s closer to Kelce than he is Darren, body type and all that," Leavitt said.

If this is the caliber of tight ends that Musgrave is being compared to now with exactly zero real NFL snaps under his belt, it is setting a pretty high bar. But it is an attainable goal. The tight end position is vastly different from where it used to be. The physicality and athleticism some of these guys possess is truly freakish.

Yes, this is just a joint practice during the preseason, and the outcomes hold zero value. With that being said, if you ever have wanted to be ahead of the curve when it comes to buying stock in a player, now is the time to do that with Packers rookie Luke Musgrave.
