Round 2 (50): Kris Jenkins, DL, Michigan

Packers-Eagles trade

Another trade.

This time, the Packers move down nine positions in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, swapping a fifth-rounder for a third in the process. Green Bay adds another Day 2 pick while continuing to upgrade Jeff Hafley's defense with one of the best defensive linemen in the draft class.

Defensive tackle isn't a significant need for the Packers, but the luxury of picking five times in the top 100 is being able to focus on the best player available. Green Bay adds the final piece to its interior defensive line by drafting Michigan's Kris Jenkins.

Jenkins was one of Michigan's team captains and could become an instant starter in Green Bay. He could immediately help as a run defender and has huge upside as an interior pass rusher.

Several other top interior defensive line prospects hurt their chances of going to Green Bay at the NFL Combine, but Jenkins checked every box, earning a Relative Athletic Score of 9.55 out of 10.

Even after trading away one of their two second-round picks, the Packers still end up with two excellent prospects who can upgrade Hafley's defense. Mitchell and Jenkins would give Green Bay a dream start to the 2024 NFL Draft, and this trade-down with Philadelphia leaves them with three third-rounders to come.
