Packers News: Thursday's injury report provides positive update
- Romeo Doubs returned to practice on Thursday
- David Bakhtiari expected to play vs. Bears
- Christian Watson remains out of practice
Christian Watson could miss the Green Bay Packers' season opener against the Chicago Bears, but another key receiver could return in time.
First-year starting quarterback Jordan Love will lean on an inexperienced receiving corps this season, including rookies Jayden Reed and Luke Musgrave.
And Love could be without two of his most experienced pass-catchers against the Bears. Watson's absence from practice is concerning. However, the Packers did get some more encouraging news during Thursday's practice.
Packers injury report: Christian Watson remains out, but Romeo Doubs returns to practice
Star receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) sat out of practice for the second day in a row. His status for Sunday's season opener against the Bears remains up in the air. He likely needs to practice on Friday to have a chance of playing.
The good news? Romeo Doubs (hamstring) returned to practice on Thursday. He was a limited participant, but it's a step in the right direction. It would be great news if Doubs can play on Sunday.
Watson is a game-changer, but Doubs has already become a go-to target for Love on the practice field. He could lead the Packers in receptions this season. Hopefully, he can put in a full practice on Friday.
All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) remained out of practice on Thursday, but there's no reason to panic. Bakhtiari said the plan is for him to play against the Bears. Head coach Matt LaFleur is also confident that the Packers' star left tackle will be available this week.
Rookie receiver Dontayvion Wicks (hamstring) should be good to go against the Bears. He was a full participant on Thursday.
Outside of Watson's injury, things looked more positive for the Packers' offense regarding injuries on Thursday.
