The Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots decided to suspend the remainder of their preseason game in the fourth quarter, and they made the correct call.

Over 10 minutes remained in the fourth quarter of their preseason contest at Lambeau Field, but they made the decision to suspend the game after Patriots rookie cornerback Isaiah Bolden suffered a scary injury. Bolden was hit in the head by a teammate.

It was a frightening injury and hard to watch as players of both teams took a knee. Bolden was carted off the field.

Head coaches Matt LaFleur and Bill Belichick mutually decided to call off the rest of the game, and it was the sensible decision.

The Patriots led the game 21-17 with most of the fourth quarter remaining. With play suspended, New England wins the game. But more important than anything is the health of Bolden.

It would have made no sense to continue.

The Packers followed a similar plan to last week, with Jordan Love playing with the first-team offense briefly before handing the reins to rookie Sean Clifford. Love was impressive again, completing five of eight passes for 84 yards and a touchdown with a passer rating of 137.5.

Clifford finished with 13 completions on 19 attempts for 137 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions, with a rating of 89.1.

But Bolden's injury reminded us about what's important. Hopefully, there will be good news on his injury in the near future. The Packers and Patriots made the right call to suspend the game.
