Packers players trip to Brazil already sounds like it's not a lot of fun

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season is finally upon us, and the Green Bay Packers get the privilege of helping open up the season with the week's second game, and on an international stage, too.
While the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens get ready to kick off the season on Thursday night, the Packers will then take on the Philadelphia Eagles Friday night in Sao Paulo, Brazil. With the game just a couple of days away, both teams have been fully briefed on several do's and don'ts once they are on the ground in Brazil.
The Eagles players and coaches are staying at the airport hotel for convenience and safety's sake. The city is subject of plenty of crime and is one of the bigger crime hubs in the Americas. For that reason, most players and coaches are planning on doing next to nothing outside of playing in the game Friday night.
Despite the Eagles opting to stay in the airport, the Packers have decided on another route. Green Bay is going to be staying in the city, which will open the doors to a multitude of things that could go wrong.
Essentially, the players are being coached to stay in their rooms and not venture out into the city. That's the gist of it. Green Bay obviously doesn't want to risk any one's well-being by allowing them outside the hotel walls, so we're hoping the players oblige.
Matt LaFleur seems to lean away from the NFL expanding to Brazil
Any time head coach Matt LaFleur has been asked about the Brazil game, he has stuck to football. That hasn't changed this week, with LaFleur being asked about the city, crime and any potential dangers.
LaFleur has chosen to keep his head down and stick to the script, so to speak. They're sticking to football.
Sure, it is an understandable question to want to ask LaFleur. Posing the question as to whether or not he has gone over the rules and regulations for his players staying in the city is a reasonable ask. But, LaFleur seems to be all business.
He appears to be taking the common sense approach, and if media members took a hint, they'd understand.
All of those with a microphone and laptop in hand have a job to do, but they're not going to get anything juicy out of LaFelur this week. This is 100 percent a normal game week for him, as far as the media is concerned.
Packer fans can rest assured, though, that the players have been given plenty of direction in order to ensure their safety.
