The Green Bay Packers are lucky to have Tom Clements.

Clements played a crucial role in Aaron Rodgers' development as his quarterbacks coach for six seasons before becoming offensive coordinator and eventually assistant head coach under Mike McCarthy in Green Bay.

Rodgers helped bring Clements out of retirement to rejoin the staff under Matt LaFleur's leadership in 2022, and Love is now benefitting from the move.

"I can't speak enough for the man, the coach, what he's meant to us," said LaFleur. "We're all better for having Tom around. I'm a better coach for having Tom around."

Love learned a lot from Rodgers during their three seasons together, but Clements has also played a significant role in his development. There were clear improvements in Love's technique throughout his first season as a starter, and Clements has an outstanding track record of helping quarterbacks develop.

The Packers appear to have found their next franchise quarterback and a huge contract is on the way, but Clements is helping Love level up this offseason.

Packers QB coach Tom Clements reveals what he is working on with Jordan Love

Clements will return for at least one more season, which is incredible news for Love and the Packers. Speaking to reporters last week, Clements revealed some of the areas Love must improve in his second year as the starting quarterback.

It makes sense. Love proved he could do it all. In the second half of last season, he made several big-time throws, protected the football, and looked like Aaron Rodgers with his ability to escape the pocket and make plays.

His footwork also closely resembled Rodgers'—the way he bounced around in the pocket and often threw off-platform.

Learning from Rodgers and Clements has helped Love build a strong foundation. Getting another year of working closely with Clements will allow him to level up. The benefit of playing a full season as a starter, including two playoff games, is that it gives them plenty of tape and experience to learn from.

It's exciting for the Packers.

Love proved he is the quarterback to lead this offense and team into the future, and he couldn't ask for a better quarterback coach to help him reach an even higher level in 2024.
