The Green Bay Packers desperately need to improve their tight end depth after losing Tyler Davis for the season.

Green Bay will rely on rookies Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft to make an impact immediately. Fourth-year Josiah Deguara offers depth, but he is listed as a fullback on the latest Packers depth chart.

Davis was expected to provide much-needed depth on offense while remaining a core special teams player.

On Tuesday, every NFL roster must be trimmed to no more than 53 players. The Packers have to move on from talented players, but there are also opportunities to strengthen the roster at areas of need.

Newly-released Broncos tight end could solve Packers tight end concerns

According to Mike Klis of 9NEWS, the Denver Broncos are waiving tight end Albert Okwuegbunam.

Okwuegbunam is a former fourth-round pick and spent the first three seasons of his career with the Broncos. In that time, he made 54 catches for 546 yards and four touchdowns in 26 games.

He would add more speed to the Packers' offense and has a great size at 6-foot-5, 258 pounds. Okwuegbunam would provide some experience to the tight end room as well as depth behind starter Musgrave.

Okwuegbunam was fantastic in the Broncos' 41-0 preseason victory over the Los Angeles Rams last week, catching seven passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.

The veteran tight end will be available on waivers this week. Green Bay holds the 15th priority, so would need the 14 teams before them to not put in a claim for Okwuegbunam.

Adding another tight end is a priority for the Packers. They don't need a starter, but some solid depth. Okwuegbunam would provide that. He would be a low-risk option for the Packers on waivers.

Don't be surprised if the Packers put in a claim for the former fourth-round pick.
