It will be hard to look at the Green Bay Packers' No. 33 jersey and not think of Aaron Jones, just as it took time to forget about Micah Hyde's excellent play with that number.

With Jones swapping Packers green and gold for Minnesota Vikings purple this offseason, the No. 33 jersey became available. Just like that, one era ends and another begins.

The sign of a great jersey number is one that hasn't changed hands often in recent memory. Since 2013, only two players have worn it in Green Bay: Jones and Hyde. They each enjoyed a lot of success for the Packers despite both being fifth-round draft choices.

This season, another Day 3 pick gets the opportunity to wear No. 33 in Green Bay.

Packers announce jersey numbers for new players on roster

The Packers have announced the jersey numbers for the new additions to the roster. Fourth-round pick Evan Williams will take on the No. 33 jersey.

It worked out pretty well the last time the Packers had a versatile defensive back wearing this jersey. Hyde played various positions in Green Bay's secondary, and Williams can do the same. Green Bay has hinted at the rookie getting opportunities to play as a nickel corner as well as safety. Sound familiar?

Packers 2024 rookie class jersey numbers

  • T Jordan Morgan (No. 77)
  • LB Edgerrin Cooper (No. 56)
  • S Javon Bullard (No. 20)
  • RB MarShawn Lloyd (No. 32)
  • LB Ty'Ron Hopper (No. 59)
  • S Evan Williams (No. 33)
  • OL Jacob Monk (No. 62)
  • S Kitan Oladapo (No. 27)
  • OL Travis Glover (No. 79)
  • QB Michael Pratt (No. 17)
  • CB Kalen King (No. 34)

Williams will get an opportunity to earn snaps early in his career. Outside of free-agent addition Xavier McKinney, the Packers' safety room lacks experience. Williams will have a chance to land a significant role in Jeff Hafley's defense right away.

Another notable number change is at No. 17, which Davante Adams held for eight seasons in Green Bay. Kickers Ramiz Ahmed and Anders Carlson have since worn the No. 17 jersey, but rookie quarterback Michael Pratt now shares it with Carlson, which could be a sign of the Packers' plans at kicker.

It will take time to get used to seeing the No. 33 jersey without Aaron Jones. Hopefully, Williams can make a similar impact to Micah Hyde in Green Bay.
