Packers roster projection 3.0: Who is going to make the final 53?
Cornerback (5)
Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas, Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine, Corey Ballentine
PUP: Eric Stokes
Eric Stokes is still on the PUP list, and it's uncertain when he will be cleared to return. In the meantime, rookie Carrington Valentine continues to impress. He is the Packers' CB4 until Stokes returns.
Shemar Jean-Charles is a player to watch in the final two preseason games. He played well against the Bengals and could push for a roster spot in the next couple of weeks.
Safety (5)
Darnell Savage, Jonathan Owens, Tarvarius Moore, Rudy Ford, Dallin Leavitt
Jonathan Owens appears to lead the way for the starting job next to Darnell Savage, but the competition isn't over yet. Anthony Johnson Jr. would likely be the Packers' sixth choice, should they keep more than five.
Matt LaFleur spoke highly of Johnson this week, and he still has a solid chance of making the roster. However, unless the Packers keep six safeties, he could miss out on the 53. Green Bay would then have to hope he clears waivers to re-sign him to the practice squad.
Special teams (3)
Anders Carlson, Pat O'Donnell, Matt Orzech
Rookie kicker Anders Carlson missed two extra-point attempts against the Bengals, and his inconsistency continued during Monday's practice.
Daniel Whelan continues to push Pat O'Donnell, leaving the Packers with uncertainty at kicker and punter entering week two of the preseason.
