Packers could trade Aaron Rodgers to 49ers if Jets deal falls through

It would be so fitting for Aaron Rodgers to finish his career with the San Francisco 49ers. His hometown team, the franchise that chose Alex Smith over him in 2005. The team he rooted for growing up before becoming one of their biggest rivals as a player.

Critics might say it would be a case of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em", but let's be honest here, put Aaron Rodgers on the 49ers, and we can punch their ticket to Super Bowl LVIII.

Craig Carton of FS1 mentioned the 49ers as a team that could potentially make a move for Aaron Rodgers if the Packers-Jets negotiations continue to drag out.

The 49ers have no picks in the first or second rounds this year. They have multiple thirds, but given the Packers' track record in that round, Brian Gutekunst should run a mile the moment a third is offered.

Instead, Green Bay addresses a position of need by trading for talented wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. They also add a 2024 Day 2 pick.

San Francisco would have to give up one of its best receivers, but Aaron Rodgers would be joining an offense with Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey. And he'd get the benefit of playing in Kyle Shanahan's system.

With Rodgers, the 49ers become one of the scariest teams in the NFL.
