On the eve of training camp, the Green Bay Packers have signed one of their best players to a huge contract extension. But it's not Jordan Love...

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Packers have agreed terms to a three-year extension worth $64 million with Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark. He will earn $29 million this year.

It's huge news for the Packers. Clark is coming off the best season of his career and can reach new heights in a more aggressive scheme led by defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. He only had a year remaining on his contract, so general manager Brian Gutekunst has smartly put an end to any doubt about his long-term future.

Packers sign Kenny Clark to three-year extension worth $64 million

This is huge. Clark is a three-time Pro Bowler but could reach an even higher level than we've seen before in the Packers' new scheme.

Clark posted a career-best 7.5 sacks and 16 quarterback hits last season, but switching to a 4-3 system that focuses on going after the ball can help the Pro Bowler post double-digit sacks.

"You might as well get Kenny Clark's Hall of Fame jacket and just start fitting him for it right now, man," said former Packers teammate Mike Daniels, via the official team website. "I'm excited for him and I'm excited for any young guy coming in, because they're going to come into a situation where they're going to be encouraged to make the plays and not be there for the others to make plays."

Daniels isn't wrong. Hafley's scheme is all about attacking. Clark won't have to worry about taking away linemen to allow the linebackers to make plays. Hafley wants Clark to disrupt opposing offenses by doing what he does best.

And now there are no concerns about his long-term status with the team. Gutekunst has ensured he will stick around for another three years.

The attention quickly shifts back to Jordan Love. He is also due a new contract in the near future, and it's surprising it hasn't gotten over the line yet.

Is Love's extension on the way next?
