Luke Musgrave

Gone are Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis. Luke Musgrave is one of two tight ends selected in the 2023 NFL Draft to take their place.

Musgrave was taken in the second round by Green Bay despite appearing in just 20 games over four years at Oregon State. The former Beavers tight end finished his college career with only 47 receptions for 633 yards, but the Packers did not select him based on numbers, it was his potential.

Musgrave was a highly regarded prospect coming into the draft with teams banking on the explosiveness of the 6-foot-6 tight end. Having a target in the passing game as big and fast as Musgrave is not something that many teams can claim to have. While he does need to improve in the blocking department, that should come in time.

Ideally, Musgrave becomes a go-to target for Love in the passing game and the chances of this happening are fairly high. Offenses similar to that of Matt LaFleur's rely on having production come from the tight end position.

With Musgrave in position to start from day one, the chance to develop chemistry between the two is very high and that could lead a productive and impactful rookie season in Green Bay.
