Green Bay Packers have had success in one-score games
By Jerry Tapp
If you want to be a successful NFL team, winning close games (one-score games of eight points or less) is important.
Of the 272 NFL games in 2022, 154 (56.6%) were decided by eight points or less. So, there's a good chance that several times in a season teams will be involved in close games.
The Green Bay Packers in 2022 played in nine games that were decided by eight points or less. Green Bay won four of those games and lost the other five. Just one more win in those five they lost by one score, and the Packers would have been a playoff team last season.
Despite an 8-9 record and a 4-5 record in one-score games, the Packers have been one of the league's best close-game teams since 2010. In that stretch, the Packers have won 63 one-score games and lost 42, a winning percentage of .600. The 63 wins in one-score games since 2010 is tied for the second-most in the league and is the most among NFC teams.
Following are the one-score wins of each NFL team since 2010:

The Packers' 42 losses in one-score games since 2010 is the second fewest behind the Patriots.

Last season, two AFC West teams tied an NFL record for most one-score defeats in a single season. Both the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders lost nine games by eight points or less in 2022, becoming the 18th and 19th teams in the Super Bowl era to lose nine one-score games in a season.
The Minnesota Vikings last season won 11 games by eight points or less, the most in the Super Bowl era in a single season.
