Romeo Doubs hasn't practiced since Wednesday. Last night, Sports Illustrated's Bill Huber dropped a bombshell report that Doubs had refused to practice due to unhappiness "with his opportunities in the passing game."

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Green Bay Packers have responded by suspending Doubs for one game "for conduct detrimental to the team." He hasn't traveled with the team and will miss Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

This is a significant development.

It backs up Huber's report that Doubs no-showed practice and places a huge question mark over his status moving forward. How can he regain the Packers' trust after deciding not to show up to practice? Per Huber, Doubs didn't give the team a heads-up about why he wasn't attending practice.

"Worried about Doubs's well-being, team representatives found him at his home," Huber reported.

Packers suspend wide receiver Romeo Doubs for one game

This is the second time in less than a year that the Packers have suspended one of their own players for a game. Last December, they handed Jaire Alexander a one-game suspension after he almost ruined a coin toss in the game against the Carolina Panthers.

Suspending Doubs is the right decision, based on the Sports Illustrated report. If he decided not to show up to practice out of frustration for his role in the offense, he left the Packers no choice. They have to set a standard for every player and can't allow someone to show up when they want and then play like nothing happened.

Hopefully, the two sides can resolve the issue with Doubs getting back on track in Week 6. The concern is that this becomes a bigger issue beyond this week's game.

We don't know the full details, but it's surprising nonetheless. Doubs has played the most snaps of Packers receivers this year and led the team in targets last season.

The Packers will have to win without him this week.
