Packers third down decision leaves Matt LaFleur speechless for the grossest reason

Watch enough NFL games, and you think you've seen it all. Scorigamis aside, like 85% of NFL football games kinda follow the same script. It's not every day that something happens in a game that's so new, that's so fresh, that you're just thankful to be alive and on this planet when it happens.

And it brings me so much joy to report that the Green Bay Packers had one of those moments in their win over the Indianapolis Colts. If you think I'm being hyperbolic, you should know that even Matt LaFleur, who has watched more football than all of us combined, had never seen this either.

There was a moment in Sunday's Packers win over the Colts that, at first glance, looked innocuous enough. The Packers were facing third down from midfield, and Malik Willis dropped back for what looked like a pretty standard play. He never threw it, though, instead scrambling around for a few yards before getting wrapped up well short of the sticks.

If you think it was a gross play, reader, you don't even know the half of it. Turns out Willis didn't want to throw the ball because Packers center Josh Myers had just finished throwing up on the ball. Like, vomiting the contents of his stomach up onto the football. Here's LaFleur explaining it:

Malik Willis had to run the Packers' offense with a football covered in vomit

I honestly can't decide if this is funny or gross. And realistically, it's both, but I'm having trouble trying to decide which one it's more of.

It's not like football players getting sick before the snap is entirely new – guys have been throwing up in the huddle for as long as football been played – but the idea of having to go under center, midway through a warm day game, and also deal with the ball being covered in throw up makes me want to ... throw up.

Good on Willis for not making a receiver have to deal with that as well. Matt LaFleur is right: Willis probably didn't appreciate that.

But we did, and he tried to still make a play. That's veteran leadership if I've ever seen it. At least now when LaFleur references all the things the Packers need to clean up this week, we'll know what he's talking about.
