Packers training camp primer: Dates, location, how to watch, position battles & more
The most wonderful time of year is upon us. As the long, dark days of the offseason near their conclusion, the Green Bay Packers will return to the practice field and ramp up preparations for the journey ahead.
Matt LaFleur's young squad exceeded expectations last term, stunning the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs and almost doing the same to Kyle Shanahan's 49ers.
Jordan Love proved himself. His young receiving corps showed star potential. The defense didn't meet expectations, but LaFleur responded by overhauling his staff, replacing Joe Barry with Jeff Hafley and a far more aggressive scheme.
OTAs and minicamp gave us some insight into the 2024 team, but the real work begins at training camp.
LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst will determine the winners of each positional battle and the best starting lineup and build toward the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.
Here is everything you need to know about training camp.
When does Packers training camp start?
Players begin to report to training camp on Wednesday, July 17, starting with the quarterbacks, rookies, and injured players. The rest of the roster joins them on Sunday, July 21, ahead of the opening practice.
The Packers begin training camp with their first practice on Monday, July 22, at 10:30 am CT. It's an open practice available to the public. The team will also hold its Annual Meeting of Shareholders at 3 pm at Lambeau Field. It's a busy day to kick things off.
Packers training camp location
The Packers' training camp practices take place at Ray Nitschke Field, a stone's throw from Lambeau Field. Bad weather sometimes forces the team to practice indoors at the Don Hutson Center. The players will continue the long tradition of riding bikes from Lambeau to Ray Nitschke Field before the start of each practice.
Only one practice is held away from Ray Nitschke Field. The Packers will host their annual Family Night scrimmage at Lambeau Field on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 7:30 pm CT.

Key position battles to watch at Packers training camp
Backup quarterback
Sean Clifford impressed as Jordan Love's backup quarterback last year, but a disappointing minicamp performance opens the door for rookie Michael Pratt, who turned heads in the offseason. Pratt has played well ever since arriving in Green Bay, creating a fascinating competition for the No. 2 job.
Starting offensive line
The Packers invested heavily in the offensive line, drafting three players who offer positional versatility. Who makes the starting five? Is first-round pick Jordan Morgan among the "best five" at the end of training camp, or will he begin his NFL career as a backup? Matt LaFleur has a lot to figure out in the weeks ahead.
Starting cornerback
Who starts opposite Jaire Alexander on the outside? Former first-round pick Eric Stokes is healthy and aiming to prove himself, but second-year Carrington Valentine continues to impress and earn high praise from Matt LaFleur. This should be fun.
Kicker
Unlike last summer, Anders Carlson faces significant competition for his job. The Packers enter training camp with Carlson, veteran Greg Joseph, and James Turner, creating a three-way competition at kicker.
