PFF All-Breakout Team shows sky is the limit for Packers in 2023
Will the Green Bay Packers win double-digit games and reach the postseason or end up with a top-five draft pick?
Either is completely possible, but nobody knows. The new-look Packers are unpredictable, which is why the upcoming season is so fascinating.
What's undeniable is the Packers' potential to become one of the NFC's top teams again in the next couple of seasons. They have gotten younger across the roster this offseason, adding prospects with sky-high upside.
General manager Brian Gutekunst has prioritized premium positions like edge rusher and cornerback in the early rounds of recent drafts while placing an emphasis on elite athletes.
Entering 2023, the Packers have several breakout candidates.
Packers potential is highlighted in PFF All-Breakout Team
Pro Football Focus has put together a 2023 All-Breakout Team, and no team had more selections than the Packers.
Three Packers made the team: Wide receiver Christian Watson, center Josh Myers, and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt. All three were draft picks in the top two rounds over the past three years.
Watson showed Pro Bowl upside in the second half of last season, scoring eight touchdowns in the final eight games. Wyatt impressed in limited game time and did enough late in the season to show he deserves a starting job in 2023.
Myers hasn't yet lived up to expectations in Green Bay, and PFF noted that he "was about as average as they come" last season. However, they added that his grades improved from his rookie season.
Along with the three players in this team, the Packers have several other breakout candidates, including wide receiver Romeo Doubs, offensive lineman Zach Tom, and edge rusher Lukas Van Ness.
The Packers might be inconsistent this season. They have a young roster and a first-year starting quarterback. But the potential for this team to grow in the next couple of years is clear. They have huge upside and could have several players enjoy breakout seasons in 2023.
