Predicting the rest of the 2023 Packers schedule after Thanksgiving
After the Green Bay Packers lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, all hopes for the season were seemingly lost. They had already dropped six games, and with a daunting three-game stretch versus the Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs to come, the attention shifted to a possible top-five draft pick.
But in the space of five days, everything changed. The Packers overcame the odds to defeat the Chargers and Lions on the back of arguably Jordan Love's best career performances. In the two games combined, Love completed 49 of 72 passes for 590 yards and five touchdowns, earning a passer rating of 116.1.
Only one hurdle remains in the tough three-game stretch, then the schedule eases up for Green Bay.
According to The New York Times, the Packers' playoff chances jumped up to 51 percent after beating the Lions. Can they do it? Here are predictions for the remaining six games after Thanksgiving.
Week 13 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Jordan Love vs. Patrick Mahomes II. The rematch.
Love almost led the Packers to an upset win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in his first career start. Can he guide Green Bay to its third straight victory when Kansas City visits Lambeau Field?
Surprisingly, Joe Barry's defense might fancy its chances of disrupting the Chiefs' offense. Kansas City has struggled for consistency in recent weeks. They put up 31 against the Las Vegas Raiders but averaged only 19.4 points per game in the previous five contests.
Where Green Bay could struggle is against a Kansas City defense allowing only 16.5 points per game this season. Along with the brilliance of Mahomes in finding ways to win, the Packers may struggle, even at home.
Prediction: Kansas City 24, Green Bay 17 (5-7)
