Remember when the Green Bay Packers seemingly didn't care about the inside linebacker position? Those days are long gone.

General manager Brian Gutekunst has now invested two premium picks at the position in the past three draft classes. In Round 2, Green Bay selected Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, who joins former first-rounder Quay Walker in the middle of Jeff Hafley's defense.

The hope is that Hafley's more aggressive scheme can help unlock Walker's potential. He now has another linebacker with a similar skill set to work with.

Like Walker, Cooper has game-changing speed and athleticism, earning a Relative Athletic Score of 9.13.

Together, the Packers hope Cooper and Walker can become a dominant duo in the middle of the defense, much like what the San Francisco 49ers have with Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw, as the Packers found out in the NFC Divisional Round in January.

Cooper and Walker will play together in September, and Walker has already made his feelings known about the pick.

Walker is excited about the pick. He tweeted that the Packers have found his "partner in crime."

Packers players are enjoying the draft class so far. Elgton Jenkins welcomed Jordan Morgan to Green Bay shortly after the first round on Thursday evening. Now, Walker has done the same after the Packers found him a new tag-team partner.

Cooper is coming off an outstanding season with Texas A&M, making 17 tackles for loss and eight sacks. There's no typo there. Read that again. He made 17 tackles for loss and eight sacks. That's the kind of playmaking ability he is bringing to Green Bay's defense.

Walker has good reason to be excited. Together, they can form an outstanding starting combination in Hafley's defense.
