Blockbuster Rashan Gary trade

Packers fans might hate the idea of trading Rashan Gary, and understandably so, but for two first-round picks, it makes sense. With Aaron Rodgers departing, the Packers find themselves in a rebuild, whether they want to admit it or not.

The Packers will have to pay Gary in the next year. With limited cap space due to several restructures, trading a star player for premium picks could be a solution. A tough decision, yes, but one they should consider.

Kansas City needs pass-rush help but doesn't pick until 31st in the first round, and the Super Bowl champions haven't been afraid to trade premium draft capital for star players in the past.

In 2019, the Chiefs sent their first-rounder and a conditional future second to the Seattle Seahawks for pass rusher Frank Clark. They also swapped third-rounders. In 2021, they sent a first, third, fourth, and future fifth for tackle Orlando Brown.

They could make a similar move here for Gary, who is one of the best pass rushers in the league. He was having a Pro Bowl year before suffering a season-ending injury.

The Packers likely won't be in contention this year or next. Here, they add two premium picks in a blockbuster trade.
