What a day it has been for the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers moved on from franchise legends David Bakhtiari and Aaron Jones and lost Jon Runyan Jr. and Darnell Savage in free agency. But they've made two blockbuster deals, signing Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Packers are signing McKinney to a four-year, $68 million deal.

And he is worth it. McKinney is everything the Packers need at safety and is a perfect starter for Jeff Hafley's defense. The 24-year-old is coming off his best season with the New York Giants and received interest from around the league in free agency. He will now join a new-look secondary in Green Bay.

And McKinney had the best reaction.

McKinney will quickly become a fan favorite. Giants fans loved him and were desperate for their team to re-sign the former second-round pick. McKinney had the perfect reaction to signing with the Packers.

Last week, McKinney said he was "intrigued" when hearing the Packers had hired Derrick Ansley to become their new defensive pass game coordinator. Ansley coached McKinney at Alabama, and the two are now reunited in Green Bay.

What can Packers fans expect from their new safety?

"I've proven I can play the deep part of the field. I can play half the field, quarters coverage, I can blitz. I'm able to play man to man, I'm able to play zone, I can play in the slot," McKinney said on the Up & Adams podcast.

And that's exactly what the Packers need. Jeff Hafley can use McKinney as his single-high safety or have him line up in the box. That versatility made him a must-have for the Packers in free agency.

Green Bay landed its top free agency target, and McKinney will instantly become a crucial player in this defense.
