After using two Top 100 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft on wide receivers like Texas' Matthew Golden and TCU's Savion Williams, the Green Bay Packers may be in the mood to trade a holdover like either Dontayvion Wicks or Romeo Doubs.
Wicks, a Virginia product who has become an up-and-down playmaker over the last two seasons, could be acquired by any team that is willing to part with a mid-round draft pick in exchange for someone who could be an immediate upgrade to their wide receiver room.
The Arizona Cardinals need to prove that Jonathan Gannon and Kyler Murray can make it to the playoffs together, but they need more wide receiver talent to further that end. ESPN's Seth Walder believes in Wicks' fit with Arizona and Monti Ossenfort's willingness to hand Green Bay a pick to acquire him.
ESPN projected the Packers to send Wicks over to Arizona in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick, which would give Wicks a path to more immediate playing time while freeing up targets for the two Packers rookies as a result of his departure.
This Packers-Cardinals trade idea sends Dontayvion Wicks to Arizona
Wicks has caught exactly 39 passes in each of his first two seasons, combining for just under 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. Wicks' potential is tough to gauge. While he is one of the best receivers in the NFC when it comes to getting open, he has some of the worst hands in the league.
Even with Christian Watson recovering from an injury, the best-case scenario for Wicks is emerging as the No. 4 wide receiver behind Golden, proven standout Jayden Reed, and Doubs. If Williams is as good as advertised, Wicks could fall even further down the depth chart. A trade might be best for everyone at this point.
Arizona, meanwhile, will get a player who could emerge as a quality No. 2 or No. 3 wide receiver in a room that is currently being carried by Marvin Harrison Jr. Adding one more target to the mix could be what the Cardinals need to jump out of the .500 mediocrity they find themselves in and contend for a postseason spot.
The Packers seem very enticed by both Golden and Williams, which could make it hard to retain either Doubs or Wicks. Given how Doubs is the better player currently, finding a trade partner for Wicks that is still willing to compensate Green Bay well enough could be easier.
