Raiders hiring Klint Kubiak could cost Packers their most polarizing coach

The NFL's coaching carousel keeps spinning, and once again, it might hit the Green Bay Packers hard.

It started with Jeff Hafley's departure to Miami. Not only did the Packers lose their talented defensive coordinator, but Hafley also took Sean Duggan, Ryan Donward, and Wendel Davis with him. On top of that, Green Bay has lost defensive passing game coordinator Derrick Ansley and defensive analyst Nathaniel Hackett.

On offense, the Philadelphia Eagles stole quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion to become their new offensive coordinator, and he may not be the final exit.

Seahawks could renew their interest in Packers OC Adam Stenavich

The Seattle Seahawks are preparing for Super Bowl 60, but the moment that ends, win or lose, they will likely need a new offensive coordinator. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Las Vegas Raiders are "zeroing in" on Klint Kubiak as their next head coach.

And that's where the Packers come in.

Seattle needed an offensive coordinator last season. While Mike Macdonald ultimately settled on Kubiak, a decision that aged beautifully, he almost hired Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich for the role.

The Seahawks interviewed Stenavich, with many believing he was among the frontrunners alongside Kubiak.

Stenavich is a polarizing name in Green Bay.

Many Packers fans have vocally questioned the Packers' offensive coordinator, although, in honesty, it's hard to truly understand why. Some question, "what exactly does he do?" After all, Matt LaFleur calls the plays.

But that's exactly it. We don't know what Stenavich's role is alongside LaFleur, so it's impossible to judge his work, for better or for worse. LaFleur clearly values him, which is why he made him his OC after a successful stint as the offensive line coach.

Other teams also believe in Stenavich. Outside of the Seahawks' OC vacancy last offseason, he has also received interest for head coaching jobs. That says a lot.

Just as it appeared he would definitely remain in Green Bay this offseason, the Seahawks' need to replace Kubiak could change the calculus. It's something to watch. While the Packers can technically block any interest as it would be a lateral move, that's not LaFleur's style.

In Seattle, Stenavich would get the opportunity to call plays, something he doesn't do in Green Bay. LaFleur has never stood in the way of an assistant coach landing a play-calling gig. It's the same lateral move LaFleur made from the Los Angeles Rams to the Tennessee Titans, which Sean McVay gave the green light to.

Time will tell. If Seattle renews its interest in Stenavich, LaFleur could lose his eighth assistant of the offseason. He did need to retool his staff and evolve, but many changes are coming out of necessity.

Stenavich's status is something to watch.
