Robert Saleh's next job could be the best-case scenario for Packers

And we love a best-case scenario.

Ultimately, Robert Saleh in Green Bay didn't amount to much. Saleh joined ol' friend Matt LaFleur on the Packers' coaching staff – in some sort of weird, semi-legitimate capacity – after getting fired by Aaron Rodgers in the middle of the season.

Saleh, ironically enough, spent the second half of the season in Green Bay working with the Packers' offense. Seeing as they lost their last three games of the season – and only scored 10 points in their Wild Card loss to the Eagles – it seems fair to assume that Saleh's impact on the offense was, uh, minimal.

And while it was never really likely that Saleh was going to stick around Green Bay longer than this season, based on recent reports, we're starting to get a clearer picture of what may come next for him.

According to ESPN's NFL Senior Writer Jeremy Fowler, Saleh's probably headed far, far away from the NFC North.

It sounds like Robert Saleh's going to land a HC gig far away from the NFC North

"Former Jets head coach Robert Saleh has a second interview with the Jaguars scheduled for Friday, per sources," Fowler tweeted on Monday morning. "Saleh acquitted himself well in first interview and gets a longer look."

It's not at all surprising to hear that Saleh probably won't have to do the whole "be a coordinator for a few more years before getting a second shot at a head coaching gig" routine that most fired coaches do, considering how bad the Jets looked immediately after he got fired.

Like, they wasted no time whatsoever proving to whoever hires Saleh that it'll be a good idea. Just maybe stay away from Aaron Rodgers?

On the Packers' end, Jacksonville is just about the best-case scenario. The Lions and 49ers have openings at defensive coordinator, so heading to the Jaguars would be a far better outcome.

While the Lions' are out here watching one of their best coaches leave for a job in the same division, LaFleur and the rest of Green Bay's staff can sleep well at night knowing that Saleh's probably headed to the AFC South, which might not even be a real division.

If the Jaguars want to have an elite defense and win a bunch of 17-10 games over the Titans, fine by me.
