This one fix could turn the Packers' defense from elite to unbeatable

The Green Bay Packers are 2-1 after losing to the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, and while being upset by Cleveland was a bad look, the sky isn't falling or anything. Green Bay is still one of the best teams in the league, with a top offense and defense, but it has some clear improvements it needs to make.

There aren't many concerns on the defensive side of the ball, as Jeff Hafley's unit had another elite display in Week 3. The Browns were held to 13 points, with 10 of those coming in the final three-and-a-half minutes. However, the scores came after an interception and a blocked field goal, so the defense couldn't do much.

The Packers are only allowing 232.3 yards per game (No. 3 in the NFL) and 14.7 points per game, which is the lowest in the league. However, while the defense has been great, there is a clear area for improvement. Packers reporter Rob Demovsky pointed out that area in ESPN's latest power rankings.

Packers' defense can reach another level by forcing more turnovers

Demovsky named the lack of takeaways as the biggest issue on defense.

As he highlighted, Green Bay was really good at taking the ball away a year ago. The team was tied for fourth with 31 total takeaways. Through three games this season, though, the Packers only have two turnovers — both interceptions.

While getting off the field and pressuring the quarterback is great, the Packers' defense can really start to flip games if they consistently take the ball away.

"My belief is that they're coming," defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley said. "I mean, we're swinging at the ball more than we did last year. Honestly, that's the truth, because we're even charting that. We're to the point where we're charting how many opportunities did we have to go after the football."

This is something the Packers' defensive unit can strive for moving forward. The group is already doing everything else well, so now the defense just needs to take things to another level and help the offense out by giving them some short fields.
