Through the first seven weeks of this 2025 season, despite easily being one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the league while also leading the Green Bay Packers to the best record in the NFC and the second-best record in the entire league (all are still the case), Jordan Love wasn't getting much—well, love—when it came to conversations surrounding the NFL.
Week 8, of course, saw Love get his first and likely only opportunity to take on his mentor and predecessor, Aaron Rodgers.
And with the entire world watching, the soon-to-be 27-year-old (his birthday is November 2) went out and played the best regular-season game of his career (his playoff debut against the Dallas Cowboys still takes the cake), earning a 134.2 passer rating after completing 29 of 37 passes, including 20 in a row, for a season-high 360 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in a 35-25 victory, thus marking the Packers' first win in Pittsburgh since 1970.
Even with that phenomenal performance, Love is still being a bit disrespected, as he only sits in a tie for eighth as it pertains to the updated NFL MVP betting odds heading into Week 9. That said, however, he now has a supporter who knows a thing or two about what elite QB play looks like, that man being none other than seven-time Super Bowl champ and three-time NFL MVP Tom Brady.
When announcing his latest NFL power rankings, here's what Brady had to say about Love as he broke down the Packers' performance in Pittsburgh:
"Pittsburgh's one of the toughest places to play in the NFL, and Green Bay trailed most of the game before a monster fourth quarter. That's the kind of calm under pressure that I like to see from a young quarterback who might be starting to ascend this season. Keep an eye on Jordan Love as a dark horse in the MVP race."
Tom Brady believes Jordan Love has become an NFL MVP contender
Now, we won't dissect the fact that Brady had the Packers in third in his rankings overall (the Indianapolis Colts took the No. 1 slot) and second in the NFC behind the Detroit Lions, who Green Bay torched in Week 1.
And we're not seeing Love as a "dark horse," as we view him as a legit contender. But at least someone of TB12's stature is actually mentioning Love for NFL MVP, which so many others just refuse to do right now for whatever reason.
Yes, there are obviously a number of options to consider as we near the midway point of the regular season.
But Love undoubtedly deserves his flowers for what he's done thus far, ranking fourth in completion percentage (70.9), ninth in total passing yards (1,798), seventh in average passing yards per game (256.9), tied for 11th in TD passes (13), fourth in passer rating (112.8), and fifth in QBR (73.5). He's also thrown only two interceptions this season.
Love deserves to be in this discussion, and if he continues to perform the way he has, everyone else will end up having no choice but to join Brady in including him.
