You won't many players tougher than Josh Jacobs, and tonight is the perfect example of why.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Jacobs will play in the Green Bay Packers' huge NFC North showdown against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field tonight. Jacobs hasn't practiced all week after re-injuring his knee in last week's game against the Denver Broncos, but he plans to tough it out.
Jacobs' status for Week 16 has remained uncertain all week, but the Packers gave him the full six days from their last game to get himself ready, and he believes he can contribute. It follows a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport earlier today that Jacobs was pushing to play.
Josh Jacobs will play for Packers in crucial showdown with Bears in Week 16
"For me, it's harder to watch games than it is to play hurt," Jacobs said this week.
Jacobs is a warrior. He has dealt with knee soreness and swelling since the game at MetLife Stadium last month, but he continues to battle through. Jacobs re-injured his knee early in last week's game but continued regardless, adding 92 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, including a stunning catch in the corner of the end zone.
The frozen conditions in Chicago won't make it any more comfortable for Jacobs, but if his time in Green Bay has taught us anything, it's just how tough he is. Jacobs understands the importance of this game, and Matt LaFleur might need to drag him off the field to stop him from playing.
Jacobs has rushed for 890 yards and 13 touchdowns in 13 games this season, while adding 33 catches for 270 yards and a score.
He will need a heavy workload to keep the Bears' offense, and their powerful run game, off the field.
It's the best-case scenario for Packers fans and Jacobs' fantasy owners. He'll be out there for a huge game against the Bears.
