Trevon Diggs sends subtle message to Packers amid dead free agency market

Whether by design or not, the Green Bay Packers didn't make a splash in free agency. They've failed to fill some glaring holes, like cornerback, which could compel them to reunite with Trevon Diggs, who seems very open to the idea.

Diggs was reportedly spotted wearing a Packers sweatshirt while working out with the club's star defensive lineman and his "best friend," Micah Parsons. Green Bay released the former earlier this offseason, but still has a clear need at his position. Put two and two together, and the clothing choice hardly feels coincidental.

It's unclear if Diggs truly wants a second shot with Green Bay after logging just 36 snaps (including special teams) in his first stint. Perhaps the only clean hoodie he had happened to be a Packers pullover. Maybe the two-time Pro Bowler is trying to use his strong connection with Parsons to revive an otherwise dead market.

Nevertheless, between his apparent league-wide lack of interest and his bond with Parsons, it's easy to envision Diggs welcoming a return to Green Bay.

We're no mathematicians here at Lombardi Ave, nor do we claim to be. However, Green Bay cut two corners in recent months and only brought in one (Benjamin St-Juste). Unless the Packers are leaning into a "less is more" approach, they must reinforce their secondary, with Diggs ostensibly tossing his hat in the ring.

The options aren't great at this stage of the NFL calendar. A slew of veteran castaways, such as Diggs, and unproven names are the top options left on the open market, so beggars can't be choosers. Be that as it may, his familiarity with the Packers and relationship with Parsons are notable selling points.

While it's difficult to imagine Diggs regaining his 2021 All-Pro form, he offers proven upside that few have shown. The combination of age and ceiling might be worth chasing for a Packers squad that can use help on the back end of their defense. Plus, giving him another chance will presumably make one of their franchise cornerstones happy.

Across nine games in 2025 (eight with the Dallas Cowboys, one with the Packers), Diggs recorded 27 tackles, including one for loss, and no interceptions. His efforts earned him a 59.8 overall Pro Football Focus grade, which ranked 68th among 114 qualified corners.
