The idea of a Green Bay Packers trade for Micah Parsons is unfathomable. Unthinkable. Unbelievable.
In the spirit of alliteration, it would also show Urgency — a buzzword first heard with Brian Gutekunst's offseason plea to his team.
One way to show urgency? Trade for an all-world pass-rusher who would send the Packers soaring to Super Bowl heights. A recent trade idea from Bleacher Report shows what it may take for Gutekunst to make a franchise-shifting move for Parsons.
Wild Packers-Micah Parsons trade proposal would prove GM Brian Gutekunst is all-in
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report broke down several trade packages that could make sense for Parsons, should the Dallas Cowboys listen to offers. It would require a boatload of picks and, in this case, a player.
Knox has Green Bay sending two future first-rounders, a second, and a wide receiver to Dallas.
In January, Gutekunst urged the Packers to find more urgency, noting that this team needs to make the most of their talent and win now.
"We need to continue to ramp up our sense of urgency," said Gutekunst. "These opportunities don't come (around often). The life of a player in the NFL is not very long. We've got a bunch of good guys in that locker room, a bunch of talented guys in that locker room. I think it's time that we start competing for championships."
Knox's trade proposal would certainly help Gutekunst deliver on those comments.
It's bold. It's a move the Packers never make, but it could work. As for the wide receiver they send back, Knox named Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks as potential candidates.
Of the three, Doubs makes the most sense. Watson is still recovering from a torn ACL and has an expiring contract. Wicks offers the potential of a Davante Adams-level breakout but is less proven. He also struggled with drops last season.
Doubs is a reliable target, and Jerry Jones had a front-row seat to his greatest career performance (151 yards, one touchdown) in Green Bay's wild-card win over Dallas two seasons ago.
The fear is that the Packers do nothing, and the Cowboys find a trade partner in the NFC North. The Chicago Bears need pass-rush help, but the nightmare scenario is the Detroit Lions pairing Parsons with Aidan Hutchinson. No thanks.
Don't build your hopes up. The Packers rarely part ways with premium picks and pay top-of-the-market money. But if Gutekunst is serious about showing urgency and bringing home another trophy, Knox's trade proposal might just tempt the Cowboys.
