Hitting their bye at the right time following a demoralizing defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions, the Green Bay Packers watched with the rest of us as a wild Week 10 played out.

Unfortunately for Matt LaFleur & Co., they didn't get most of the results they wanted, especially within the NFC North, as both the Lions and the Minnesota Vikings walked away with victories.

But those victories certainly didn't come easy. The Lions had to scratch and claw their way back from a 16-point halftime deficit to pull off a 26-23 win over the Houston Texans, a game in which Jared Goff threw five interceptions. But a win is a win, and with the victory, Detroit improved to 8-1, thus taking a full two-game lead on Green Bay and maintaining the top spot in the NFC.

The Vikings' win wasn't nearly as entertaining as they engaged in one of the ugliest games of the entire season, relying on four field goals from John Parker Romo, who was playing his first-ever NFL regular-season game, to take a 12-7 win over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. Now 7-2, Minnesota leads the Packers by a full game.

But hey, at least the Chicago Bears lost, right? For the second straight week, the Bears failed to score an offensive touchdown and fell to 4-5 with a 19-3 loss to the New England Patriots. Now losers of three straight, Chicago will welcome the Packers to Soldier Field on Sunday to renew one of the league's oldest rivalries.

Let's see where Green Bay stands in the NFC playoff picture heading into this Week 11 matchup.

Updated NFC playoff picture and standings heading into Week 11

Here's a look at the seven squads that would comprise the NFC side of the bracket if the NFL Playoffs began tomorrow.

  1. Detroit Lions (8-1, 1st NFC North)
  2. Philadelphia Eagles (7-2, 1st NFC East)
  3. Atlanta Falcons (6-4, 1st NFC South)
  4. Arizona Cardinals (6-4, 1st NFC West)
  5. Minnesota Vikings (7-2, 2nd NFC North)
  6. Washington Commanders (7-3, 2nd NFC East)
  7. Green Bay Packers (6-3, 3rd NFC North)

As they were a week ago, the Packers sit in the No. 7 slot in the conference. But unlike a week ago, not every team behind them has four wins or less, as the San Francisco 49ers notched number five by knocking off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With the win, the 5-4 Niners moved into the No. 8 slot, switching spots with the Bears, who fell to No. 9. The only other teams genuinely in this race right now are the Seattle Seahawks (No. 10, 4-5), who were also on a bye, the Los Angeles Rams (No. 11, 4-5), who lost to the Miami Dolphins on Monday night, and the aforementioned Bucs (No. 12, 4-6).

The Dallas Cowboys (No. 13, 3-6), New Orleans Saints (No. 14, 3-7), Carolina Panthers (No. 15, 3-7), and New York Giants (No. 16, 2-8) are technically still in the running but pose no real threat to the Packers at this time. But good on the Panthers for winning two in a row for the first time in 700 days. Yeah, that's how wild Week 10 got.
