The Green Bay Packers provided one of their best overall performances this past Sunday night, taking a dominant 30-13 win over a Seattle Seahawks team that hadn't lost since Week 9.
Matt LaFleur got yet another fantastic outing from Jordan Love, who was interception-free for the fourth consecutive week and completed 20 of 27 passes for 229 yards with two touchdowns, both of which went to Romeo Doubs, who was back in action after missing the last two games in concussion protocol.
Josh Jacobs put forth a strong effort as well, amassing 136 total yards from scrimmage, notching 94 on the ground and adding another 42 on four catches.
The Green Bay defense was just as solid as the offense, holding the Seahawks to just 208 total yards, the second-fewest allowed by Jeff Hafley's unit this season, while recording 7.0 sacks, a dozen quarterback hits, 10 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, and two interceptions.
With the victory, the Packers improved to 10-4 for the year, but their chances of winning the NFC North are still next to impossible, as they're still two games back of both the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings with three weeks remaining in the regular season.
Nevertheless, Green Bay remains in great shape as far as the overall NFC playoff picture is concerned heading into Week 16.
Updated NFC playoff picture and standings heading into Week 16
Here's what the NFC side of the bracket would look like if the NFL Playoffs started tomorrow.
- Detroit Lions (12-2, 1st NFC North)
- Philadelphia Eagles (12-2, 1st NFC East)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6, 1st NFC South)
- Los Angeles Rams (8-6, 1st NFC West)
- Minnesota Vikings (12-2, 2nd NFC North)
- Green Bay Packers (10-4, 3rd NFC North)
- Washington Commanders (9-5, 2nd NFC East)
As they have for the last four weeks, the Packers are sitting in the No. 6 slot in the NFC standings heading into their Week 16 matchup with the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.
With three weeks to go, Green Bay is up one game on the Washington Commanders (No. 7, 9-5), two games on the Seahawks (No. 8, 8-6), and three games on both the Atlanta Falcons (No. 9, 7-7) and Arizona Cardinals (No. 10, 7-7).
So, the Packers are in good shape here and could punch their postseason ticket as soon as Sunday if they get a little help with losses by the Seahawks and Falcons or the Rams and Falcons. But if neither of those scenarios plays out, a win over the Saints on Monday night will do the trick on its own.
