Three decades after being forced to retire from the NFL due to a neck injury, legendary Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sterling Sharpe has finally earned induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
As such, Sharpe and his younger brother, three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe, have become the first pair of brothers to be enshrined in Canton.
Shannon Sharpe, of course, is one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, amassing 815 receptions for 10,060 yards with 62 touchdowns during his 14-year career with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens. Those first two numbers are good for fifth all-time among tight ends, while the touchdown total ranks eighth. So, his induction was inevitable.

During his acceptance speech in 2011, Shannon gave Sterling the ultimate compliment, the younger Sharpe saying he was "the only player that's walked through this building that can say he's the second-best player in his own family."
And just a couple of years back, during an appearance on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Shannon had this to say about his older brother: "I would trade my career, every dime that I've earned, to switch places with my brother. Because he deserves to be where I am in the Pro Football Hall of Fame."
So, Shannon has obviously been wishing for his brother's moment to come for quite some time, which made the fact that he was able to be the one to inform Sterling of his induction so special. Take a look.

As you can see, Sterling seemed to have zero idea of what was going down, which only added to the moment.
"Welcome, bro," said Shannon, to which Sterling replied, "To your house?" The younger Sharpe, of course, then revealed that he was welcoming Sterling to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Sterling was nearly speechless, and things got even more emotional when Shannon said, "To have this moment, and I've had some great moments in my professional life, this is the proudest moment in my life." He also later said that the moment was even better than the day he was inducted. Just heartwarming stuff all around.
Before the neck injury that cut his career short, Sterling Sharpe recorded 595 catches for 8,134 yards and 65 touchdowns in just seven seasons with the Packers. So, he was clearly on a path to Canton. And now, he and his brother can take solace in the fact that this long road to get there has finally come to an end.
