Greg Jennings: Life after Mr. Rodgers

Here we are entering week 8 of the NFL and Green Bay Packers season and look who our opponent is?  None other than the Minnesota Vikings and Mr. Big Mouth himself, Greg Jennings.

You may recall this is the guy who had so many things to say over the summer about how awful the Packers organization and quarterback Aaron Rodgers was.  I had no issue when Jennings left for Minnesota and completely understood this was his last big contract so he wanted all he could get for him and his family. I was thankful for his time and efforts in Green Bay and had no issue with him ending up as a Viking.

It did not take long for Jennings to start running his mouth about the Packers and Aaron Rodgers.  According to Jennings this past summer:

"“I need to go back to my college days where the quarterback wasn’t just viewed as oh-so-great and still prove that I can be successful.”"

Well, Greg, you got what you asked for and he is averaging only 55 yards per game in receptions six games into the season and scored a grand total of two touchdowns.

Of course one reason might be that he had his third different starting quarterback already this season last night. Interestingly enough in his entire career with Green Bay he only caught passes from three different starting quarterbacks.  Come on, Greg, you are so good, you should make your quarterback, wait – that is quarterbacks – better.

Well after Jennings and his Vikings fell to 1-5 with their hideous performance on Monday Night Football last night, I wonder what kind of quotes we will get out of Mr. Big Mouth this week? I wonder how he feels about Rodgers as a leader now? I think we all still remember him referring to Aaron as #12 and not by name and accusing him of being a bad leader.  Jennings also chimed in about Christian Ponder earlier this summer with, “I love him,” and  “The skill set, he has it.”

Last night Jennings had 10 passes thrown his “direction” and he caught four for a total of 41 yards. This against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL this year. Meanwhile, this week the Packers introduced the newest wide receiver, Jarrett Boykin, in his first-ever start and he was up against a top 10 defense against the pass. Boykin was also targeted 10 times and yet eight of them were completed for 103 yards and a touchdown.

I find this to be shocking news that a new wide receiver was able to do so well with such a bad quarterback, according to Jennings.

Then we all will recall his sister on Twitter last year during the Vikings game claiming Rodgers was an “idiot” and refused to throw to Jennings.

Never mind the fact that Jennings caught eight passes that day for 120 yards. Also Rodgers completed 28-of-40 attempts for 365 yards and a quarterback rating of 131.

My favorite tweet of all:

"“@GregJennings ball out so you can leave this team! They will miss u when your gone! It’s all good-bye packers! Cheap team, can’t afford him”"

I really don’t think she came up with all this on her own. I know he claimed at that time that she was not repeating anything that he had said, but given his performance and statements this summer, I now believe she was just repeating things she had heard from him.

Send his Vikings to 1-6 and so they can begin to brainwash him into thinking they don’t suck this year. If you had not noticed, Greg, this is what life is like when you don’t have a great quarterback throwing you the ball.
