Re-sign Barclay, compete with Tretter for right tackle spot
If Bryan Bulaga departs Packers News, the Packers will need someone to step up in the right tackle spot.
Allowing for healthy competition between Barclay and Tretter in training camp would be a good move by Thompson …
Re-signing Don Barclay would become an absolute priority as without him, the Packers would be running low on talented offensive linemen. Barclay brings versatility as he can play across the line.
J.C. Tretter came out of college as an offensive tackle, but made the transition to center in Green Bay. He was poised to start the season as the starting center, before a knee injury forced him out of the start of the season.
Rookie Corey Linsley stepped up in his place and became an anchor on the offensive line, leaving Tretter as a backup.
Tretter would be comfortable filling Bulaga’s vacancy at right tackle as he is familiar with the position.

Allowing for healthy competition between Barclay and Tretter in training camp would be a good move by Thompson, as the Packers would be able to discover who is best suited to fill the shoes of Bulaga.
Thompson may also look to add an offensive tackle in the draft.
South Carolina’s Corey Robinson is an intriguing prospect.
He has a huge, 6-8, 344-pound frame and should be available in the fourth of fifth round for the Packers.
Robinson needs development, but he has great size and could push Barclay and Tretter for the position.
The Packers have found great value in the past two drafts with rookie offensive linemen: David Bakhtiari was selected in the fourth round of the 2013 draft and has cemented the left tackle starting spot, previously held by Bulaga.
Center Corey Linsley had a fantastic rookie year after being drafted in the fifth round of last year’s draft.
