‘Bring Back Bulaga’

Bulaga’s teammates on the offensive line have made clear that they want him to return to Green Bay. Lang has been using Twitter regularly pleading with the Packers to bring back Bulaga.

Bakhtiari has also expressed his opinion on why Bulaga deserves a big contract, per Tyler Dunne of the Journal Sentinel:

"“He’s such a good player and he was so good for us, he can go anywhere else and be extremely valuable. I don’t know the logistics of it and financial pricing of him but he’s going to cost a lot of money because he’s worth a lot of money. The guy’s play–he’s worth the price people want him at,” Bakhtiari said."

There’s no denying the talent Bulaga has, and Thompson will certainly want to bring him back to Green Bay. Continuity on the offensive line is so important, and maintaining the line that was so successful in 2014 would be such a boost to the team’s Super Bowl hopes.

It all comes down to the price tag; Thompson won’t overpay. Bulaga has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, despite playing 15 of a possible 16 regular season games last season.

If his demands are too high, the Packers will allow Bulaga to walk.

His departure would of course be a blow to the Packers offense, but he is replaceable. Don Barclay would be the likely replacement currently on the roster. Thompson would then look to the draft to find another talented offensive lineman.

In 2013, he drafted Bakhtiari in the fourth-round, and he became the starting left tackle over Bulaga. Last year, Thompson selected center Corey Linsley in the fifth-round, and he too has solidified his starting place.

If Bulaga’s time is up in Green Bay, Thompson will need to hit another home run in 2015.
