4-12-15: Rawhide honors Green Bay Packers QBs, gets public involved

If you haven’t seen 4-12-15, the recent effort by Rawhide Boys Ranch, the organization started many years ago by Green Bay Packers former quarterback Bart Starr, to honor the trio of Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers and Starr, then get on over there and check out how you can participate.

More from Lombardi Ave

Here’s a quick synopsis of the effort that is to culminate on April 12, 2015:

Everyone talks about the trio of quarterbacks on other NFL teams like the Patriots (Tom Brady, Drew Bledsoe and Steve Grogan), Miami Dolphins (Marino, Griese, Fiedler), San Francisco 49ers (Young, Montana, Brodie) and from the Dallas Cowboys (Romo, Aikman, Staubach), but nobody has come close to the number of games the Green Bay Packers’ trio has put up.

With 324 career wins, Favre, Rodgers and Starr outdistance all of these other “greats.”

Here is the total wins put in by those other teams’ trios:

• New England Patriots … 298;

• Miami Dolphins … 275;

• San Francisco 49ers … 265; and

• Dallas Cowboys … 254.

So, if there’s a group of quarterbacks who deserve to be honored as the greatest in the game, it’s Favre, Rodgers and Starr.

All three have been NFL MVPs AND Super Bowl winners. Rodgers (1) and Starr (2) are also Super Bowl MVPs; and had it not been for the efforts of Desmond Howard in Super Bowl XXXI, Favre may have garnered that award. – even though Reggie White should have been considered, too.

Here is other important information posted on the 4-12-15 website that is not only valuable, but provides the guidelines to all Packers and NFL fans to participate:

"Government officials are being encouraged to recognize this special day and tremendous accomplishment by passing proclamations declaring 4-12-15 as Favre, Rodgers, Starr Day – The NFL’s Most Victorious Quarterback Trio Ever. Sample proclamations can be found at www.4-12-15.org. The Green Bay Packers have long been admired for having tremendous success at drafting and developing successful quarterbacks who win championships. In particular, Bart Starr, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers have achieved tremendous success in winning a combined 4 Super Bowl victories and 3 World Championships as well as numerous division championships while maintaining starting roles for the Green Bay Packers a combined 40 seasons since the mid 1950s.Rawhide Boys Ranch, founded by Bart and Cherry Starr and John and Jan Gillespie is a nationally recognized, Wisconsin non-profit organization providing residential care services to at risk youth from all over the state. This online campaign is one of several ways Rawhide is celebrating its 50-year anniversary of changing the lives of thousands of youth that have lived at Rawhide for periods of 3 months up to 2 years. Rawhide also offers prevention-based programs such as outpatient mental health therapy at four clinics throughout the state, summer adventure camps and intensive family weekends, to name a few."

Is there a better organization that could honor the best franchise in the NFL?

I think not, and that’s why you should get on over to 4-12-15 and post your thoughts and photos for these greats and for the Green Bay Packers.

It’s an awesome effort that is being offered.

Remember the success that Jennifer Brilowski brought us a few years back when she organized and brought about Aaron Rodgers Day on 12-12-12?

This could be as great.
